Spring Went Flying!!

Post by grant81rs »

Gidday,

Today while fiddling about with the 78RS and a few electrical gremlins, I pulled apart the right hand control switch on the handlebars, (Indicators, starter, off/on/off) and yes the small spring and a tiny ball bearing flew out across the shed and never to be seen again...

Does any have any pictures, diagrams, info and or spares :) as I am at a loss as to where they go!!, I mean I sort of know where they go as the off/on/off switch on now a little sloppy but I'm not to sure how they go in there.

Many thanks once again
Cheers, Grant

Shotgun pellets. I forget what size. Lost a bead on the left side but not the spring. Pain in the rear to deal with.

With a spring and ball involved, there should be a tiny hole in the swith where the spring goes in first. The ball is last, protruding out a bit. The stiff little spring and ball works in conjunction with a partner ridge to keep the switch in its place. Or something like that.

Sometimes you can luck out and it's the same size as the spring in a retractable ball point pen. Cut to fit in length.

Maybe the spring from a click-type ball point pen. :?:

This spring is at least half the size and much stiffer than from a ball point pen. Nice try.

Kind of late but I have read that having them in a plastic bag as you disassemble is a good idea.

Or maybe the same size as the one in a Bic lighter.

I feel your pain mate, will be trying the old magnetised tip of a screwdriver to slot the ball into approx the right spot. Will pass on the news.
