Nice! What is that...a 68 bug? Hard to tell with the bikes in the way.
Just kidding. Details on the racer?

Chuey, the rims on the cafe look like they belong on the "S", what with the color and all.

The color of the rims is not what I'd originally planned. Originally, the rims were corroded but otherwise fine stock rims. I had them polished. Looking closely at the polished rims, I could see the spiderwebbing from the original corrosion under the polished surface. I figured that it would be hard to keep the polished look; as I feared the corrosion would keep coming back. I took them to be anodized clear. When I went to pick them up, I learned that any imperfections under the polishing will be highlighted by the anodizing. The spiderwebbing was now black against the beautiful satin silver anodizing. She'llbe wrote:Chuey, the rims on the cafe look like they belong on the "S", what with the color and all.
So, I had the rims powdercoated. I like gold rims and went with a gold. It's much darker and bolder than I had intended. The rims on older Italian racing bikes that were painted with a light gold is what I had originally pictured. Wait 'til you see the snowflakes I just had powdercoated for my RS.

I thought I'd try it on this new forum and it worked. I'll try some more soon. I was surprised and delighted when it actually worked.ME 109 wrote: Hey, I thouht you dinno how to post pics?

ooh, Cal Look bodywork! And Moon hubcaps! Headed for the salt? Do you keep it licensed?
Aircooled, Baby!
And look at that tree above the right passenger side wheel in the pic. It looks like it would compliment some Arizona Flagstone stone work. It's that horizontal plane thing. True beauty from Mother Nature.

The '66 is a recent acquisition, licensed, on the road, and a daily driver.
Currently gathering parts to get the HEAT in order before winter –
Have in the garage:
OE VW heat exchangers, to replace the J-pipes,
OE VW intake manifold to replace one with chopped off heat-risers,
and a OE VW fan shroud, flaps and thermo, and misc (missing) tins are on order
to replace after-market non-heat bits currently fitted or missing.
The pic shows the car, the schoolhouse where I live,
and a bit of my front yard.
The County Road Commission puts salt on the roads during winter –
This will be the only "salt" the VW will know.

Re: four wheeled airhead
Very cool! I just picked up a '67 Bug myself. It needs a little work, rear wheel bearing and suspension bushings, but it still gets me down the road:vanzen@rockerboxer.com wrote:The '66 is a recent acquisition, licensed, on the road, and a daily driver.
