The Moon like you've never seen it before
The Moon like you've never seen it before
Up close and personal! Zoom in and wait for the picture to load: http://wms.lroc.asu.edu/lroc_browse/view/wac_nearside Normally, when we view a full Moon there are no shadows on its surface to give a sense of elevation, because the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon. This view is actually a composite of 300+ photos taken by a satellite doing a polar orbit of the Moon.

I'd really like to try my dirt bike there!
