They get in the way and are unnecessary if you have the right diameter tube. As long as the hose is ethanol resistant, it'll have no effect.

Where did you get the proper gas line?
Is yours 6mm or 7mm ID?
The stuff EME sells is 6mm ID and very hard to push on and pull off, like when you want to remove the tank, etc.
I'm looking for the 7mm ID (12mm OD) but without the cloth covering.
