LED spot light.

Post by Sibbo »

Will my R80 ST system run this spot plus my standard lights?

If it's the only additional thing you're running, then 34 watts shouldn't be a problem, especially at highway speeds. They look quite intriguing.

How much do headed grips consume? I have them but in our climate they very seldom get used.

One will be no worries at all
Get the flood, the spot will be useless and annoying.

Those lights aren't nearly as bright, but they only draw about 9 watts apiece and say they put out the same light as two 55w halogens.

Heated grips draw 2 to 4 amps as near as I can find. There are many different ones, and they all have different draws. That's 24 to 48 watts

I've had these grips: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/oxford-h ... ring-style on my /2 conversion for 3 years. The power settings pulse the grips on and off at 25, 50, 75 and 100% duty cycle.

They also claim to shut off automaticly if the the voltage drops too low to save a dead battery, but that setting is down around 11V which is a little too late.

Overall I like them. :D

A friend has a pair on his GS & recons he is pretty happy with them... cheap & nasty $25 ones from china like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10W-2-CREE-L ... 1c33137924
Artificial lighting for aquarium, aquatic plants & corals is specialty interest of mine over the years.
The most efficient & brightest LED on the market is the Cree XML. They come in 3, 10, 20, 50 & 100w flavours... and are available in either 3500k (looks yellow) or 6500k (looks white) colour temps.
Most of the top end units listed for bikes are Cree 10w, as are the first 2 you listed, sibbo.

Just make sure you look at the beam width. The ones identified above are floods with a broad but not long beam. The spots have an 8 degree beam for a much longer reach.
