I had a slight misgiving about the note on the EBAY listing to the effect that the frame you're seeing is not necessarily the frame you're getting. I was wondering how hard it would have been to take a pic of the actual frame and show it in the auction.

However the representation seems pretty clear to me that the frame is essentially being said to be a fully functional frame. I'm thinking that (if paid for via pay pal) that if push came to shove, pay pal would find in the buyers favor. I wouldn't have said this before I actually had an experience where I claimed that what I bought (and received) was misrepresented, and pay pal found in my favor (including the shipping cost).

Before buying the frame a hard look at to what is actually being promised would be in order.

The buy it now price seems high, considering what used frames are going for. A wanted-to-buy listing on IBMWR will get a few responses. I got several when I advertised for a frame. And the going price seemed to center around $100 to $150 plus shipping. Supposedly UPS will ship a bare frame, but I would still expect the shipping to be spendy.

Unfortunately IBMWR want ads also seem to attract a few scam offers too. I have received "generic" responses on some things that I advertised for. They said in effect that they have the item I want in stock and in very good condition for X dollars money. In other words, if the response smells funny it is very likely to be funny.

The problem with the shipping of a frame naked as with this seller, is that there is a really good chance that the frame will arrive damaged. The shipper will say sure send it back, I'll refund you, but YOU pay the return shipping.
Look at the shipping price, it is NOT going to be carefully packaged.
If I can't get pictures of an item I am bidding on, it isn't going to happen.

shipping

A frame can be sent bare –
There's really no frilly bits that will be damaged from rough handling.
The damn thing is too heavy for those ham-fisted bastards to throw around !
Some cardboard duct-taped at the corners and vulnerable areas is good protection
and will even keep the paint nice.

In any event, a complete box or crate will be costly and IMO superfluous.

BTW:
The RS frame will have two holes tapped with threads in the neck-stem to mount a fairing bracket –
A nice feature if considering the addition of an RS, RT, or ? fairing,
but will not pose any problems and is not in the way otherwise.
Likely the fairing bracket itself is not included in the sale.

Gotta disagree on the damage part.
Usually the hamfisted dock loader guys end up dropping it more than once in it's trip south and the airhead frames naturally incline to hit on the steering head.
My shop received a frame from 350 miles away that the race are was so tweaked, we couldn't get the old bearing race out to replace it. of course the steering stop was broken off,
Just sayin'

I useta work for UPS and bare frames could be shipped through them. They get handled as "irregs" and get loaded with all theo other oddly shaped items and the over 70 lb stuff. Mostly what I saw moving through the system were aftermarket HD hardtail (HEAVY!!!) frames. Those survived OK. I could see that UPS might be able to abuse the headstock as wirewrkr posted. I'd also worry about the muffler/passenger peg brackets and I could see that the downtubes could be tweaked toward each other. I'd want the frame on a pallet with something to keep space between the motor mounts at the very minimum.
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.
