before and after pictures of my recent BMW activities

This is a before and after picture of the clip ons I made for my Cafe Racer. Slow progress with all my other projects going on, but it has been powder coated and the bar itself, which is held into the clamping part with a wedge, has been chromed.

Here is a picture of the side stand, which is a stock stand with the unnecessary parts removed and a foot added (actually, just under an inch) and a prong to make it easier to deploy. The prong has yet to be chromed.

ImageThis is another shot of the same control. It shows the area that was removed to make the wooden cap flow better into the shape of the defunct choke lever.

My recent re-do on the Captain, my RS on which I take trips included powder coating the wheels, new tires, air filter, painting the frame with engine in place, and a bunch of other cosmetic tidy ups.

Image Here is a tool I made to brace the crankshaft when the alternator is off. I'm glad to have it, as I've used it twice now. This picture is the engine which I'm doing a clean-up and tidy up on. So far, new clutch friction plate, main and oil pump seals, heads refurbished, carbs rebuilt, and much cosmetic stuff.

Nice use of the knot to take the crank thrust!

Beautiful stuff.
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.

I like how there is not a speck of dirt on the final drive (or the wheel, for that matter).
This is your "living room" bike, isn't it, Chuey?

good figure ...

Post by vanzen »

Damn I love good figure – maybe especially in a piece of wood !

My first thought is always 'wood on a motorcycle ???'
... and I think of the tradition of wood as used in automobile production,
the first Daimler motorcycle ––––

then I'll comfortably sit back thinking that Chuey is doing something truly extraordinary and unique,
truly digging it ...

note: That crank fixture is nothing less than "Fabulous Furniture" !
