RS 30th Birthday Party - Oz

Post by Mal S7 »

Our previous thread on this was getting worn so,
lets try a heli-coil .....

A bit over a week til the big event
a 30th birthday party for the ever popular 81 model RS
to be held on 12th and 13th November.... somewhere ....

So whats happening? Where will it be?
There was talk of it being anywhere from Bendigo to ACT.
Thats like saying it will be held somewhere in England.

Any ideas?

Re-visit the old Clubmen Rally site...camping behind the Jingellic Pub?
Great roads getting there, pub close by, quiet and secluded country town.http://www.jingellicpub.com.au/

Dubbo..via Cowra 525 ks 7 hours.
Albury...110 ks 2 hours
Beechworth..150 ks 2.5 hours
Narooma.. 400 ks 5.5 hours
Melbourne.. via Whitfield/Beechworth/..483 ks, 7+hours. Less time if I hit the Hume at Wang I s'pose, maybe 7 hrs..

I need to leave late in the morning, after 1100hrs, so I think that distance is about my limit otherwise it's close to dusk and 'roo time. I want to avoid riding then.
Ideally it'd be good to ride up with Pete, or meet Hools from Bendigo along the way, eg Boonie Doon, say 1230hrs?

Any other location within say 450-500 ks from Melbourne would be ok.

Jingellic sounds just fine to me - let's run with it.

I've just installed rear wheel bearings. Gotta fit the new tyres and refurb the shocks next.
Brunhilde has indicated enthusiasm for the notion of a sort of debut celebration for all those sweet young RSs - welcoming them to a new decade of fun on the road.

Will we need wood for a fire d'ya think? I failed organising the wood for Talbingo...or at least my efforts didn't work.

A mate of mine lives on a farm just out of Jingellic - he sold his R90S about 4 years ago. I'll see if his enthusiasm can be engaged to supply some wood, and I'm sure he'd like to come along and celebrate. Might get him thinking about getting a bike again, now that the farming game has picked up. He might even bring along his banjo for a bit of Deliverance mood creation.

I'll be there, Jingellic is a nice place and the Pub is handy.

Sent you an email Charlie.

Hope there are camp fires allowed.

Giddy all, Jingellic camping area near the pub sorta got a bit smashed by last years floods. I was there about 4 months ago and it looked a bit of a mess.

Things may have changed since I last saw it but if it hasn't, there is also Tintaldra just up the road.
Good camping spots and a pub too!
