Yes, on the /6 models, the pins face in opposite directions (can't remember off hand whether they face towards each other or away. I'll go and have a look when I get 5 minutes). In order to remove the seat you have to loosen the bolts securing at least one of the hinges. Not too much of an issue. Worth marking the seat pan so that you can make sure the hinges go back in exactly the same position as there is a certain amount of 'fiddle room' in the brackets...
