Yeah those RR's could have Yamaha badges and I wouldn't make any difference.
I bet I could whip one in the super twisties :P Well, maintain the ability to read its number plate anyhows.

I can dream can't I ?

Where "evolution" stops, "extinction" begins.

It will not be BMW's fault that the chain drive transverse-4 is well proven
as the best configuration for a liter based sport / race machine.
Nor should BMW be eschewed for their hope to garner some of this popular market share !
Despite our collective lost youth sentimental reminiscing and hand wringing –
designing, building, selling, and racing a competitive machine
will attract new and younger buyers to the marque.
After all is said and done, BMW will not be in business to placate our nostalgic fantasies –
the corporation exists to make money !

Is it the old eyesight that is failing or is the knack of stereotyping so entrenched
such that "all transverse-4s look alike" ?

Now,
if only Das Engineers could get it together and actually win races against those Yamahas ...

As my dad used to say about all cars begining to look a like..."air flows the same at BMW, Mercedes, Ford, Honda, Toyota, GM, etc." Perhaps it's a bit less true with motorcycles, but when trying to make the most aerodymanic bike, the shapes will most likely be similar, regardless of make.
