Hot starting problem

My recently rebuilt R100 has a starting problem.
When the engine is hot the starter motor doesn't always work - press the starter button and nothing - it's dead.
Any clues on where to look first?
Cheers

The starter relay is the first place I would look.
But maybe something melted.

Relay would be the easiest place to start , have a spare that you can try ?.Check all main terminals while you're under the tank. If not that how about a sticking armature brush, have seen when this the happens that the instruments / dash lights go dull when you push the start button but the starter motor will not engage to start the engine.

This is a really common problem with Toyota Starter motors (failing when hot, work again when cooled), so, since it's nice and easy, the first thing I'd do is jump the starter the next time it fails and see if it works. If it does, then it's relay or wiring. If it doesn't, then it's the motor.
