I'm freshening my top end on my 91. I pressed the pushrod tubes out of the left cylinder and cleaned things up. Just before I pressed them out of the right side I remembered I needed a height measurement to press them back in. As I looked at the right side I noticed my exhaust and intake tubes aren't the same height. I don't know it the PO put them in wrong or if they're supposed to be different. I slid the cylinder on the studs with the tube rubbers and they seem to engage the block about the same time.
Can any of you motor gurus give me some direction? Thanks - Rod

Tim -
I'm not sure I can visualize your description, but what I've heard is that the most inboard edge of the ring around the tube (that pushes on the seal) should be exactly parallel with the inboard edge of the horizontal flange that goes all the way around the base of the cylinder. This is the surface that mates up against the engine case. Since the tubes are canted w.r.t. to the cylinder bore, that ring will also be at an angle, but the most inboard part of that ring is what is used for the reference.

Perfect, that's the relationship I arrived at after trial and error with my parts. Thanks so much for the confirmation, I will save that drawing in my files - Rod
