Airhead Powered Roadster Project

Aloha,

I'm collecting the bits and pieces to build a 4-wheel roadster (think '20's/'30's Bugatti type) that I'll be powering with a '74 R90/6 motor. I want to keep the instrumentation simple and familiar -so I was thinking of using the combo speedo/tach unit from a R75/5. My question is: Will the earlier R75/5 gauge play nice with the R90/6 motor? I know they switched to separate gauges on these later models. Thanks in advance for the help. ~Will

KauaiSlash5,

I suspect that the cluster will work, but I am not that familiar with /5s or /6s ...
However, I do know that the /5 speedo can only be as accurate as stock (laughing)
IF the FD ratio and rear tire outside diameter will be the same as was used on the /5.

Best to post this question in the "BMW Motorcycles, Post 70 Airheads" forum category –
Knowledgeable folks there will surely say their piece !
