I have to admit I never thought to put an airhead motor on a saw .Mine had a Honda Civic engine , not idea either .A small commercial Toyota ,an 18R would have been best or a small diesel industrial .

How 'bout one of these Sibbo, 6.5hp Ronaldson Tippet.
It ran my saw bench. Don't use it no mo. too dangerous.

I've seen a couple of these in action, VW powered "Mobile Dimension" sawmills:

I spent a few years working for a bloke with a Mobile Dimension Saw, an excellent bit of gear but working very hard in Oz hardwood .Fast too .A good way to make $500 a day .

That Ronaldson Tippet might have been a bit underpowered ,I needed 30 hp to pull a 3 1/2'' wide blade through 28'' .

The trouble is the saw tends to stop .It's annoying especially in a wide cut .


Actually bandsaws don't need a lot of power but they have to maintain a constant speed .Slowing down in the cut is just one of a dozen things that give a wandering cut . Mine cut dead straight !!

For sure, with power saws, having plenty of power is one of the most important features.

Those saws are way cool, I'm glad I clicked on this thread.
