I was just thinking, you all might like to see some other random photos of Hawaii I've taken over the years. I'm pretty sure I haven't shown these here before. Don't forget to click on the picture to see the full view! Let's start with the north end of the island, Kohala Mountains. My place is downhill to the left, on the outskirts of Kamuela. The field in the foreground was a military base back in WWII. Image My papaya tree in the backyard; up until recently this tree was keeping me in a papaya a day! Image My '67 Bug on a rainy day at Erwin's place, Pauuilo mauka. Image Here's a couple of the bigger valleys on the way down the east coast between Kamuela and Hilo town. Image Image The old Naalehu theater, southernmost movie theater in the USA! Image This derelict shack is located on a lava flow deep in south Kona. Image This abandoned coffee shack is located in Captain Cook. The second photo was taken back in the late 1970s, when it was still occupied. I wanted those factory louvered windows on the Bus so BAD! Sadly, I think this van went to the dump, after serving as a non running home for many years. Image Image Finally, one more of the '73: Image

Nothing against your friend, but I don't think that's a B-52 Bomber. B-52 bombers were jet powered and developed after WWII. Cool photo though.

Edit: after a search, it looks like a Douglas B-18. Follow the link to see a photo. I tried a link, but it didn't work.

Thanks Jeff, it was a brain fart on my part. Although I seem to remember it being called a B17, but then it would have four engines, no? Your photo link isn't working for me.

I don't know what happened. It worked initially for me, but now it's not, so follow the link instead.

P.S. Where on the island is it? I'm assuming it's on the Big Island. Is it near the southern tip where the base used to be? We (my wife and I) went there on our honeymoon, and hiked to the green sand beach.

This is somewhere up Pololu Valley, near the north end of the Big Island. I tried you link and got a "Forbidden: you are not allowed to access this website" message.

I found the site by Googling it. I assumed the link would work; however, if you cut and paste it into the web browser, it will take you there. Sometimes I just don't understand this Internet thing.
