Problems posting

Hi,

Yesterdya (4/4/26) there were issues getting into the site. These appear to have cleared but I am getting multiple 'login' requests when trying to post.

Typically, when I try to post a new topic or post a comment, I am hit with a login screen (needless to say, I'm already logged in). Not a great issue because I can just login (again) and go one from there.

If I try to write a reply to an existing post, I get the normal editing box, but when I try to submit, I'm hit with a login screen which leads to a blank posting screen. Quite annoying when you've just typed out a long reply... In the past, I've found that in similar circulstances, I can hit the back arrow a couple of times to get back to the original screen and then post normally. Now, that doesn't work either, I just get yet another log in screen. The answer is to cut and paste from the original screen but that shows as a new post not a reply.

Not sure what the issue was yesterday but it looks as though something has gone awry during the recovery process.

Thanks for all you do to keep the forum up and running.

Rob

Rob, we have been having some issues with bots jamming up the site again.

I had to implement Cloudflare on Boxerworks in an attempt to keep the bots at bay. There may be some glitches that happen as a result. I would try clearing the Boxerworks cookies and cache:

"Try using the Delete cookies link on the bottom right of the forum pages. It will verify that you really want to do that, which will log you out of the forum and take you to the main page. Then hit your F5 or refresh button to refresh the page. Then login and hopefully it will work better."

If you have further issues let me know pls.

Sorry Steve, I have tried the 'Delete Cookies' route several times now to no avail... in fact things seem to be getting more random. For example:-

1) When I logged in after one 'delete cookies' exercise, the forum refused my login saying the form was invalid (The login details are filled automatically so it wasn't incorrect details). I clicked the back button and hit submit again and it went straight through.

2) I have noticed that the notes at the bottom left of the page say I 'cannot' do just about anything even though I'm logged in

3) After one reset, I went in to the 'Post 70 Airheads' forum and found that I found that I 'can' do all of the functions but then I went into the Area51 forum and found it had reverted to 'Cannot'... then I went back to the 'Post 70 Airheads' forum and found it was 'cannot' their as well.

4) I can't, now, use the short reply or reply with quotes process, I just get a logon screen followed, after log on, by a full reply posty screen.

Hope you can make some sense from that... Good luck

Rob

Rob, sorry to hear you are still having problems. What device and browser are you using?

I did some Googling on this. Changed a Cloudflare setting that has to do with SSL based on some suggestions I found. Please clear your Boxerworks cookies and cache:

https://support.google.com/accounts/ans ... %3DDesktop

Then refresh the page and let me know how it goes pls.

Hi Steve,

Presently I am using Windows 10 on a generic tower PC. I seldom use anything else to access Boxerworks unless I am away from home. I do, however, have a couple of Android devices and a couple of laptops. When I get a chance, I'll do some experimentation and get back to you...

Hi Steve,

As you can see, I have been trying some experimentation with other devices al of which show the same symptoms.

Generic tower PC running windows 10 - Browser Firefox - all software up to date as far as I can see.
Generic tower PC running windows 10 - Browser Edge - all software up to date as far as I can see.
Hewlett Packard Laprop running windows 10 - browser Firefox - all software up to date I thnk... don't use this machine very often.
Samsung S20 Android phone using supplied Browser
Samsung Tab S6 Lite using supplied Browser.

All of these show the same or similar issues. Made more exasperating by the fact that they are not consistent... symptoms are:

1) Constant login screens when trying to post. Short reply facility and reply with quotes isn't available at all because the submit button triggers a login screen and logging in produces a full (blank) reply screen. Using the full reply facility also intemittently affected. I can work around this by copying the content of the screen into the machine clipboard then going through the log in process before pasting it into the presented editing screen. This then posts.

2) I've noted that, if I return to the Board Index or change forums at any time I'm likely to be logged out (hadn't noticed this before).

3) I'm receiving repeated but inconsistent 'Invalid Form Submission' errors when logging in (even though the log in details are correct). Often if I 'back arrow' and submit the same screen again, it will go through.

4) I've tried the 'delete cookies' and 'delete caches' routines numerous times but it makes no difference.

Doesn't seem to be Browser specific or Platform specific.

FWIW, I also use the BMW Owners Club (UK) Forum which uses the same forum software with no issues.
