Final drive seal change question

Hey guys, I hope that you are enjoying the holiday season.

I am overhauling a final drive from a 1971 R75/5 and have a question.

My next step is to remove the pinion seal holder (threaded ring). In my manual, there is no mention of the direction of threads on this part. In the instructions that came with the cycleworks tool, it mentions that these are left hand threads. The ring is stubborn to remove, so I want to be sure that I am turning in the right direction before I apply some force.

Does anyone KNOW which direction these threads are?

Cheers

Normal, lefty loosy, just did it.

I used some heat on it too, that's recomended by the snowbum.

Counterclockwise to remove. Heat case and it will be easier.

If they are really LEFT HAND threads, you turn it to the Right (clockwise) to loosen the ring.

The only one that I remember is on the /3 series of the 50s. It had the cover with left hand threads.

Hey hey...stop confusing things:)

As it turns out, they were normal (right hand) threads. My torque wrench at full power did not budge it until I applied heat to the case. Now it is all sealed...and curing.

Thanks again...happy new year.
