The lights have a really neat fine adjustment under the housing for setting the angle to the road . All the new black paint and the new LED housings kind of shows up the crappy condition of the headlight housing .... here we go !

I'll get around to wiring in the relay and switch next week when I get a bit of "unassigned'' time. Then I'll show a photo of the light spread .

Very nice work!. How did you do the elliptical cuts tightly enough to braze?

I want to do some mirror extenders and I need to join 2 flat plates to a tube, and each of the plates is at a different angle to the bore of the tube.

I'm not quite sure of the job you describe but my 5" angle grinder gives a good enough fit for brazing. The elliptical cuts are just bevelled to give a close fit , probably 1/32" .

PITApan, when quoting try and edit out the photo link. We don't need to see the pics again, and I'm on my 5th set of mouse wheel bearings.

PITA, I think his are constant radius arcs (semi-circles), so they're really easy to mark tracing with the end of a tube. Then he apparently just ground them out. To get the arcs it sounds like you need, the only way I know how to do it is to cut section of the tubing at the same angle the plate will meet the tube and trace from that to give you the correct ellipse. If you don't have extra of the tubing you're welding to, and can't find some scrap of the same OD, I don't know how you do it, unless you have a 3D CAD program to generate the correct curve.

Or maybe a narrow strip of lead, say 1/8" x 1/8"... that holds a shape quite nicely. So do those hardware store gadgets with the movable pins, kind of combs with sliding teeth. They'll pick up a shape beautifully .

I can draw the layout (development) of the curve on a drafting board, old school, or do it on CAD.

I've got the nice version of the sliding pins thing (sliding blades), lead filled drafting curves, sliding spline adjustable curves (another drafting tool), etc, etc. And then there is taking a bondo casting and running it at an angle on the sanding disk, etc. I can pretty much capture anything. (I do industrial modelmaking)

It's cutting the thing...The mirror mount is right in your face, it has to be tight and the plan is to braze. I can give the grinder a try. I just hate free handing stuff and Santa ain't brought me a mill yet. Need a bigger chimney.
