Two nice neat little LED lights have turned up.... both spots unfortunately . Our Chinese sellers were in a different shop to the pack and send department so I got a "terribly sorry ... please forgive " message when they realised they had sent 2 spots instead of a work light and a spot. I decided to let it go an accepted them .
Quality appears excellent, all I have to do it make up some mounts onto my crash bars ( yes I have crash bars !) then ask my friendly auto electrician to wire them in via a relay .
I'll tell you how they go.

I'm sure they will light the hell out of the area they are focused on, but, remember, vision isn't just about having light, but about what is brightest. If they really add a LOT of light in just one narrow spot, it will actually make your vision worse in the peripheral areas. It will all depend on just how bright they are and how narrow. If bright and narrow enough, you might be better off with one than both.

I appreciate that MS and unless they are as required I'll order another, a work light . As it stands I plan to shine the beams down the verges of the road...off into the grass a little . Lurking kangaroos being the creatures of interest.
If that proves unsatisfactory I'll pass one of the spots on and also have a spare work light ( from the to be bought yet set ) as they are sold in pairs .

Re: LED spot light.
Hmmm .. admission time . They've arrived from far off China and look well made and well designed. I've made up two mounting brackets for my crash bars and fitted them but as I'm not confident about the electrical mods I have to make , a relay and switching I will take it to the auto electrician and so far I haven't had time as he'll say 'park it over there and I'll do it some time today'. That means a long wait in town and I've been flat out on other work .
I will update when I do it and I'll post a photo too.

I noticed that Eastern Beaver makes a relay kit for head light + running lights.
Are these the ones you went with?

Sorry Ed, I didn't see that post. Yes those are the ones, they appear very well made too. I've just made up some mounting brackets and I'll wire them in next week.

Re: LED spot light.
I made up a couple of brackets for my spot lights yesterday. I oxy acetylene brazed them... a great way to fabricate small bits of metal if you don't own a MIG and I don't .

A photo of the two mounted .

and a single shot from underneath .

The lights have a really neat fine adjustment under the housing for setting the angle to the road . All the new black paint and the new LED housings kind of shows up the crappy condition of the headlight housing .... here we go !
I'll get around to wiring in the relay and switch next week when I get a bit of "unassigned'' time. Then I'll show a photo of the light spread .
