With my R80 installing two LED bulbs on the left side
will blink slightly faster than normal. Has a new Hella
electronic flasher unit installed.
If you replace the two incandescent on the right with LEDs
nothing will blink as there is no earth available for the LEDs.
IE the left side earths through ...

The turn signals will not work with LED bulbs unless you
modify the original wiring. This only uses one indicator bulb
which means that when the left indicator is blinking its ground
is via the filament in the right indicator. When all indicator bulbs

I have replaced the earth lead on both of my bikes.
From the -ve terminal to the frame (coil mount) and then to the
bolt adjacent to the lower clutch cable adjustment. This is along bolt
with a nut on the end so can easily be replaced if it strips.

Just replaced the Deka ETX30L ( finally failed) in my 1985 R80.
I have had the bike for 3.5+ years and the battery was in it
when I purchased it.
