1/4 bsp x 19 threads come in tapered and parallel. I was given 2 petcocks from a Matchless Mattisse for an aluminum fuel tank i built and my thread gages didn't have 19 tpi. Had to do some research on that. . FWIW, I just looked in my Aeroquip- How To Identify Fluid Ports And Connectors booklet and...

Re: Main bearing replacement issues

At least now I know. Who thought of making two thread pitches with the difference being just one tenth of a mill...

Re: Crankshaft installation ...
Oooo, that seems like a very good idea . . . BUT, you mean "solid-core," don't you? you wouldn't want flux getting squeezed out in there. Does sound a bit messsie, doesn't it? I have tried solid core for mesureing squish and it just doesn't work very well. Actually I have had no m...

Re: Crankshaft installation ...
If you use used thrust bearings, make sure they are flat flat. Sometimes they are a close fit on the locating pins. If care isn't taken removing them, that is: working them off each pin a little at a time, they will bend very slightly. This can make make the measurement misleading. I found this out ...

Re: Main bearing replacement issues
The size of the pin hole diameter only needs to be increased a few thousanths of an inch to be the right size for a 5mm .90 tap hole. The threads can be removed from the end of a 5mm bolt, making it 4mm like the original pin to engage the bearing. The only other thing is to flatten out an area surro...
