Re: Noisy flasher relay
Thanks folks! I think I understand the basics of the electrical system, and have wired my British bikes, which of course are much more basic, as they are even older than the Beemer. Also I try to keep on top of Mr. Lucas in my MGB. This particular problem is however solved! When I wrote my post, I h...

Noisy flasher relay
Hello I have a fault somewhere in the electrical system, causing my indicators not to work. Bike is 1985 engined bitsa R80, with a mix in the electrical department. What I experience: I turn on the indicators, but they don't do anything. The voltmeter drops to zero. This is intermittent to top the f...

Re: Misfire when cold
Hmm, the vent was not clogged, will try a new set of plugs. Maybe the coil/coils?

Re: Misfire when cold
Thanks chaps, the misfire is not constant, it starts fine on the button, but when I take off, it misfires sometimes, making a haff-haff sort of sound. The engine of course stops pulling, and the bike judders as it goes. After a while things clear off, and it runs as it should. I installed the electr...

Misfire when cold
Hello all I have a misfire from cold (1986 R80 Bitsa with electronic ignition). Ignition timing is checked, valve clearance OK, fuel lines OK. What is the likely cause? Checked one carb, the needle had worn off the yellowish surface, and some wear could be felt. When warm, everything is OK. Cheers, ...

Re: No instrument lights and little charge after meltdown
Thanks folks! I have replaced all the bulbs, but found some still didn't work. The Charge light worked again, and made for a healthy charge - relief! It turned out that the remaining bulbs (hi/lo indicator and turn indicator) didn't work due to bad connections to the printed circuit. These were rest...

No instrument lights and little charge after meltdown
Hello! R80 bitsa here (wiring mostly fits 1981-84 description according to moto-bins). Last season i had a meltdown in the headlight wiring when a short occured from the main bulb socket. Re: Bean can once more; arghhh!
Thanks for the tips, I had found some other articles about the hall sensor replacement, but the trouble is now to get a sensor... I like the Alpha system a lot, and have always forund it odd that BMW kept the centrifugal advance. It might be a lot better to get an old points bean can, and fit a Boye...

Re: Bean can once more; arghhh!
Thanks Ken! Yes Roadrocket is indeed taken from tht handsome BSA model. I am slowly building a Road Rocket replica from my bitsa A10, and is nearly there exept from the tank and the brakes. You have some fine bikes; the only T-bird I have is my cat, named after your bike! I love my Boxer dearly, and...
