Watt am I talking about

Hi,

Planing on a long ride this weekend to a Tech-Day. Plan on replacing the steering head bearings! YAY!
Also would have liked to address the charging issue at the same time, but I don't have the tools or understanding to test things. It could be as simple as dirty connections or worn brushes ...

Re: R100R 1993

Hi,

When I got back home (early this morning) the 'charge' light was off and the 'storage' light was on.
Rechecking it this afternoon; same. It's on 'storage' mode now.

So maybe it is charging but at a slow pace as suggested?
The Yuasa is really not a charger so much as a maintainer of charge ...

Re: R100R 1993

I don't know.
It's the one I listed earlier:

Yuasa
Smart Shot 900
Battery Charger-Maintainer
Model: 12V900

On the Sealed Absorbed Glass Mat Valve-Regulated Battery.
The guy at the store said it was already pre-charged and ready to go. So far it seems to be working correctly but when I see it's ...

Re: R100R 1993

Hi,

Hmm,
Had the battery on the charger all night and now 20 hours later it's still on "Charging"?
That does not seem like a good sign. Was going to ride the bike to a wedding today but now think I should just take my truck instead. Rode the bike yesterday and last night but the wedding is way ...

Steering head bearings

Yes it's true and that's something I should check as well.

However when I first got the bike and had it given a quick once over the mechanic told me that the steering bearings were going and I probably need them done later. So I guess now is later about I don't know 3 to 4000 miles later. So that ...

Sealed Absorbed Glass Mat Valve-Regulated

Good Call Daz.

"Power Sports
Sealed Absorbed Glass Mat Valve-Regulated Battery"

I guess I wasn't listening correctly or they just say 'gel' as a catchall type thing for non-wets?

If this is all going to work,
My next big thing is the steering. It seems to be loose and tracks the rain grooves ...

Re: R100R 1993

Thanks Barry,

Went for a bit of a ride today so I'll start checking that tomorrow when it's back in "Storage" mode.
I wasn't concerned until I was told elsewhere that I should not charge a full battery.

Which relates to my original question; that's what I thought "Storage" was for.

Yuasa Smart Shot 900

Thanks for the clarity Major. I appreciate it.

Had to go out to the garage to verify. No doubt I just got the names mixed up. Here is what it says:
Yuasa
Smart Shot 900
Battery Charger-Maintainer
Model: 12V900

It has three lights:
• AC Power • Charge • Storage

So my question was:
I thought ...

Re: Input Spline Lube - 3/2014

Hi,

Way back in March I went to a Tech Day and they helped me disassemble the bike, paint some lubrication on a small part, then reassemble the whole thing before riding back home that night.

I did not have enough video footage to make a cohesive maintenance video but with a little supplemental ...

Re: R100R 1993

Hi,

I got several answers and almost all suggested that since the battery had run dry it was shot or certainly "only a matter of time".
So I just bought a new gel battery.

It's a Power Sports Sealed battery and the guy at the counter said it comes ready; just install. So I did. BTW I use a Yuasa ...
