Re: Got a "tiny" charging problem...
I'm still going to do the continuity test you suggest, but maybe a lit on bulb does it for the continuity. Continuity test no longer necessary. Lit bulb = continuity. Just a tip. As shown in your first pic, your brush tension spring is too 'loose'. You should wind it a full turn tighter. Remove the...

Re: Got a "tiny" charging problem...
Before going any further, check for continuity between the female connector pin in the dash plug to the blue wire at the regulator. It's the one that corresponds to your "the third one on the right" male pin in the pic.

Re: Got a "tiny" charging problem...
Check the contact surface between the bulb holder and printed circuit.

Re: Got a "tiny" charging problem...
If you unplug the voltage regulator and jump the blue wire to ground the charge light should go on.

Re: Got a "tiny" charging problem...
The charging light, the oil pressure light, and the neutral light all get power from the same circuit when the ignition is switched on. The neutral and oil lights illuminate when grounded by their respective switches. The charging light illuminates when grounded through the blue wire at the voltage...

Re: Finally got an airhead..
Maybe you should put some test miles on it before doing anything else. Front brake sticking? A very common cause is a blocked (or partially blocked) return hole in the master cylinder. If you open the bleeders and the brake frees up right away, that's your problem. It's also good to pump the pistons...

Re: Finally got an airhead..
I didn’t want it to make it all crispy, just want it to work. You sound like you know what you're doing. Have you been riding the bike or just trying to tune it in the garage? Put a few miles on the bike. If you fall in love with it and decide to keep it, you can make it 'all crispy' a bit at a tim...

Re: Finally got an airhead..
The very first thing you need is a timing light, a cheap one will do, just to confirm that you are in the ballpark timing-wise. S mark at idle, F mark at 3000 rpm and up. Next, while idling, pull up on the left throttle cable, release it, then pull up on the right throttle cable, and release it. Fro...

Re: 1978 R100RS Engine Noise
Definitely NOT pinging. First step is to pinpoint the source of the noise. Remove the front engine cover and have a listen with a stethoscope to the beancan, alternator and timing chain casing area, PCV flapper valve area, valve covers, etc. to see if you can pinpoint the noise. No stethoscope? A lo...

brown for ground
Sounds like your having ‘bad ground’ issues. Not being there in person to evaluate the situation, here are a few things I would suggest you try to zero in on the cause of the problems you are experiencing. Keep in mind that (factory) ground wires on your bike are BROWN . Individually check that all ...
